Tanning is an important part of bodybuilding. The reason why bodybuilding athletes are very dark is to accentuate the muscle under the bright stage lights. A competitor who is lighter skin toned, but very cut and muscular, will not look as shredded as a competitor who is dark.

Unfortunately, after every bodybuilding event there is at least one competitor who is unhappy with the judging and scores. Some bodybuilding athletes feel like they didn’t place where they should have, and the competitor next to them didn’t deserve to take first place.
